Concerning all the detail work, the root systems beneath the earth were possibly the most delightful to create. For these, I simply poured watercolor mixes blended with large amounts of water, which were let to travel at which ever direction they chose. After that, the roots were painted by free hand in a negative fashion. Perhaps this process may act as a reflection of the relationship we have to our own roots. What we’re born with and where we come from is not for us to decide, but from that we have the possibility to carve both how our lives can turn out, and most importantly - how we percieve the world around us and what kind of person we want to be.
“At rest” 2019, painted with watercolors and gold leaf on 56*76 cm hot pressed watercolor paper.
