In Scandinavian folklore, Näcken was a creature who dwelled by creaks and waterfalls. With the enchanting tune of his fiddle, he lured innocent people, often women and children into his crasp, then drowned them in the water. In this painting, I chose to explore different sides of Näcken before and after encountering with his preys.

“Näcken” 2017, painted with watercolor and gold leaf on 56*76 cm hot pressed watercolor paper.
